Catterick area has received reports of commercial burglaries within the local area over recent months which is a trend that the Neighbourhood Policing Team are monitoring closely.
Richmondshire area as a whole has received further reports of burglaries from residential premises over the last few weeks.

Status Update
The local team, along with our response colleagues and specialist operations will conduct high visibility patrols in hotspot areas, targeting criminals and disrupting them at every opportunity
Throughout winter darker nights, we also conducted burglary prevention drop-in events where we offered crime prevention and home security advice to the public. This included drop-ins at supermarkets within Catterick and smaller, local venues such as village halls. We have already planned for more of these events in the 2026-2027 winter.

In recent weeks, we have made arrests in relation to burglaries within the local area and will continue to pursue all lines of enquiry available to us.

We have seen a rise in anti social behaviour in the Colburn/Catterick area over the last couple of months, which has included a concerning door kicking trend.
Towards the latter part of 2025, this was reported in the Colburn area of Catterick Garrison.
As of January 2026, we have received reports of antisocial behaviour within the Baden Powell area of Catterick Garrison.
Further reports have been received in April of 2026.

Status Update
The NPT along with response teams, specialist operations and the roads policing group have been supporting with proactive visible patrols, challenging youths and using police dispersal powers when appropriate. Off road bikes have been seized when driven illegally in order to create a safe space for residents to live.
We ask that any reports of anti social behaviour are reported to the police on 101 or in an emergency 999. We are working with the community safety hub and can use powers such as cease and desist letters, introduce anti social behaviour contracts to youths acting anti socially, and use Criminal Behaviour Orders issued by the Courts where appropriate.
After reports of the recent door kicking trend in the local area, Catterick NPT have identified over a dozen youths and dealt with them appropriately for these issues which has included engagement within schools, Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and other appropriate resolutions.
This remained as a priority over the Christmas and Easter School holiday break, and we have been engaging with local schools to ensure we continue to deliver prevention and early intervention work in relation to antisocial behaviour.
In the early parts of 2026, Catterick NPT has interviewed youths in relation to persistent antisocial behaviour; referred several youths to the School Liason Officer for engagement; and worked with the NYCC Community Safety Hub to deliver sustainable and long term intervention

Retail Crime is a national issue, in Catterick we have several Retail areas that include small convenience stores. The Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team aim to be proactive in reducing Retail Crime and this is a priority we have carried over in to the 2026 year.

Status Update
1- Neighbourhood Officers are engaging with stores and small businesses to encourage sign ups to NICE Investigate - NICE Investigate is a new system that allows the direct upload and sharing of incidents recorded by CCTV or other sources of media.
2 - Neighbourhood Officers regularly engage with Retail staff through a shop watch scheme and regular patrols.
3- Catterick Neighbourhoods are supporting the use of banning letters by local retailers where appropriate.
4- Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team supported the NYCC Community Safety Hub with their day of action in Princes Gate, Catterick Garrison, on 25/03/2026 to engage with local retailers and offer additional support where needed.
On 22/04/2026 we have positively identified vehicles involved in recent thefts from Princes Gate and are pursuing this as a line of enquiry .

Alcohol Awareness Week Pop up Event
meetingAlcohol Awareness Week 2026 runs from 6-12 July 2026, coordinated by Alcohol Change UK to highlight the risks of alcohol, promote safer drinking habits, and support communities. Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team are getting involved in this and we will be hosting a pop up event from 1400 until 1600hrs on Wednesday 8th July to showcase resources available to keep safe on nights out, as well as to promote healthy alcohol habits and talk to your teenagers about the dangers of alcohol.

meetingCatterick Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in attendance at Catterick Village Fete on 11/07/2026 with a stall offering crime prevention advice and available to discuss any concerns with the local community that they may have.
Catterick NPT at Hunton Steam Gathering
meetinghis well established vintage and heritage event takes place annually in September. Occupying a 70 acre site in Lower Wensleydale, North Yorkshire the event features two-days of action packed entertainment to amuse all the family. Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team will be attending on Sunday the 13th September 2026 and will be available to show families around a police vehicle as well as provide community engagement as well as offer any advice the local community need.
